PHOTOGRAPHERS are being urged to get snappy in time for an annual art competition.

People have got just two months to submit their entries in this year's photographic contest organised by the Darwen Civic Society.

It will be the 13th year the group has held the competition, which is this time on the theme of doors and windows.

The aim is to encourage people to look closely at the subject and entrants could be in with a chance of winning up to £30 if they can impress the judges and prove they have got a real eye for detail.

First prize for the over 16 section is £30, £25 for second place and £20 for third. The winner of the 11-16 category will alsotake home £20, the runner-up will get £15 and third place will get £12.

There will also be a special prize for children who undertake school projects and enter through their school.

Entries can be in black and white but must be prints and not slides and the winning prints will be on display in the Darwen Library Exhibition Room from Monday June 18 to Saturday July 7 after a presentation by the Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen.

Contestants should take their entries to Darwen Library Reception desk before Tuesday June 12, fixing their name, address and telephone number to the back of the print.
