WORK will begin again on a millennium wood in Stacksteads, but precautions will be taken because of the foot and mouth crisis.
The Woodland Trust began planting Moss Meadow Wood on the bank of the River Irwell near the Coming Full Circle sculpture, but has to cease because of the disease.
Now the area around the young trees needs to be weeded and sprayed with herbicide.
Regional manager of the Woodland Trust Heather Swift has written to neighbouring farms assuring them that safety precautions will be taken.
She said: "The wood will not be open to the public. We will only be sending out our authorised contractors to visit the site.
"If the weather is fine they should be able to do the job in a day."
