FAMILIES will be £520 a year better off from this week, predicts MP hopeful Andy Burnham.
Mr Burnham, Labour's man for Leigh at the next General Election, said the new Children's Tax Credit, combined with an increase in Child Benefit, would mean more money for local families. And he welcomed plans to widen the lower rate of 10p tax.
Mr Burnham said: "From this week, many families throughout the constituency will see a tax cut in their pay packets -- and it will be worth £10 per week.
"I know that for most families, the costs of bringing up kids can be expensive. That's why our new family tax cut helps families who have a child under 16 and an income of up to £41,000."
The Children's Tax Credit was expected to be introduced this week.
