TYRE slashers went on the rampage in Bedford in the early hours of Sunday.
Dozens of car owners in nine streets woke up to find their vehicles had been attacked by vandals. Leigh police are appealing for information from anyone who saw the destruction, or believe they can help with inquiries, to contact them. They received reports of damage from residents in Brideoake Street, Widdows Street, Clarence Street, Boundary Street, Rothay Street, North Avenue, West Avenue, Hooten Lane and Mill Lane. One resident, who does not wished to be named, said: "We were going to church in Mill Lane and saw all the damaged cars. It was horrible. There were some very distressed people out in the streets.
"Some of the cars had two or three tyres slashed not just one. It was awful. It cost one man we know £120 to replace his damaged tyres.
"What a horrible Sunday morning it was. What good does this action do these people?"
