TWO electricity workers from Burnley are about to become familiar faces across the North West.

Nick Ashworth and Donny McDonald will appear larger than life on advertising campaign billboards throughout the region.

The two men, who work as jointers for Norweb Distribution, will be playing a major role in the next stage of posters publicising the change of names of Norweb Distribution and North West Water to United Utilities.

A photograph on the poster shows Nick and Donny repairing an underground electricity cable in the middle of the night with their new van parked alongside.

Nick, who has worked for the company for 12 years, said: "We can be called up at any time of the day or night to repair a power cable if people are without electricity.

"Nobody was without power while we posed for the picture which is just as well as it took about two hours."

Donny joked that Nick was the poser out of the duo. He said: "We have been working as a team for about three years now and when they asked for volunteers for the picture Nick was there like a flash. So I didn't have much choice really."

He added: "Our mates are definitely going to give us some stick when they see the posters, so I'm sure the fame will not go to our heads."

The name change has cost over £4 over two years including changing the name on tens of thousands of assets including vehicles, signage for more than 50,000 sites and the cost of communication with seven million customers.
