POOLED resources at Read Primary School has resulted in the taming of its wildlife pond.
Headteacher Carole Harrison explained that the pond area had become overgrown and the watertable had caused the liner to rise.
"Fortunately for us Marks and Spencer chain store offered a grant of £250 through a scheme it runs for school projects just like this and is raised through the recycling of their clothes hangers.
Some parents of children at our school work for the chain store and were in a position to put our name forward," Mrs Harrison explained.
The result is that Marks and Spencer donated the cash and work can now be carried out to smarten the area up and encourage its use by the local fauna.
The work is being carried out by Huntroyd Nursery which has donated some trees to further enhance the area.
