NEW jobless figures are good news for people in Bury North, says Labour MP David Chaytor.
Last month's statistics show that the unemployment rate in his constituency was 2.3 per cent.
Mr Chaytor said that the borough of Bury had the lowest rate of long-term unemployed in Greater Manchester. Those out of work for more than two years fell from 69 in January 2000 to 35 at the beginning of this year.
The MP added that the New Deal scheme had helped 288 young people in Bury North to find work, and would be extended.
Mr Chaytor said: "These are real successes which have given real hope to people's lives."
