GUNMEN are being hunted following an armed raid on a Lowton off-licence .
Two men, one of them armed with a handgun, burst into Winegro Grocers and Off-licence in Golborne Road, Lowton and threatened staff with the gun before demanding money and running off with a small quantity of cash and phonecards.
A police spokesman said no one was injured in Saturday's raid, which happened at 9.40pm, and the gun was not fired.
Manager Jackie Sherrington told the Journal: "They demanded money from the three ladies who were working at the time and fled. We are not sure yet how much was taken. The girls are a bit shaken up."
The first man was white, 6ft 1in tall of stocky build. He spoke with a local accent.
His accomplice is also described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, of stocky build wearing dark clothing.
