THE traditional Mayoress at Home event has been brought up to date in Burnley -- and now the Mayors can attend too!
The traditionally 'women-only' event has been changed this year by newly installed Mayor Coun Jack Alston.
Mayor's secretary Marilyn Kershaw said: "He felt it should be open to all people now and it was a great success. It is a sign of progress."
Mayors and mayoresses and deputies from Pendle, Hyndburn, Ribble Valley, Rossendale and Clitheroe and the honorary recorder from Burnley Judge Raymond Bennett and his wife attended. Also attending was Helen Parkinson, the granddaughter and great-granddaughter of John and George Parkinson two former Burnley Mayors, members of Clitheroe and Burnley Royal British Legion and past Mayors and Mayoresses of Burnley.
