A WOMAN who found a bottle containing an 'unknown substance' is fuming at council advice of how to get rid of it.
Susan Toner found the bottle of liquid next in an alleyway next to her home in Shadsworth Road, Blackburn, at the weekend and thinks it could contain alcohol.
She said a youngster was just about to drink from the bottle when she snatched it from him.
Miss Toner contacted Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and claims she was told to throw it in the bin.
Miss Toner, who has no children of her own, said: "There are lots of children that live around here and what if one of them got it out of the bin and drunk it, it could kill them. I think it's disgusting what the council said, if it is one of their kids they would kick up a fuss."
Miss Toner said she found the plastic bottle early on Sunday morning next to a host of other bottles -- some smashed. Miss Toner said some of them were alcohol bottles.
She said the alley was a well used cut-through and was sometimes used by youths to 'hang-out'.
Denise Johnson from Blackburn with Darwen Council's environmental health department said: "We thank Mrs Toner for her vigilance and would recommend that she pours the substance down the drain and puts the bottle in an appropriate bin." Mum's
