A GOLFER who only took up the game five years ago is through to the regional finals of the Lombard Trophy, Europe's biggest Pro-Am competition.
Amateur Lloyd Lewis and Burnley professional Paul McEvoy won the club qualifying round with a nett score of 62.
The pair progress to the regionals at Dunham Forest on Friday May 1.
Lewis, from Burnley, is a retired 56-year-old who took up the sport at the age of 51. He plays off a handicap of 24.
The final will take place at San Lorenzo, Portugal, offering finalists a luxury five-day trip. The winning pro in Portugal will receive £5,000.
