BEAUTY skills were tested at Ansdell recently, as the Further Education Skills Council (FESC) champion of champions beauty event came to the Blackpool and the Fylde College campus on Church Road.
The college's hair and beauty unit hosted the prestigious competition because of its two-year reign.
Linda Ammon, chief executive of FESC, added: "We were impressed with Ansdell's teaching, enthusiasm and commitment to Beauty Therapy which is why FESC wanted to stage the 2001 event here."
But the college's own champions, Louisa Blofeld and Daniella Spiteri, were beaten to this year's title by Joanne Higgs and Marianne Southam from Bridgewater and Warwickshire colleges.
Sue Simpson, Ansdell curriculum leader, said: "It is a pity our college champions Louisa and Daniella missed out, but the standard was exceptionally high.
