IN the glittering world of showbiz, talent impresario Jack Diamond shines bigger and brighter than the rest.

And the latest spotlight in the career of the man who started out selling vacuum cleaners with Les Dawson in the 60s is signing to the Royal British Legion, Cleveleys, to present three talent-packed shows a week in his own inimitable style.

Jack established his name in cabaret in the late 60s and after introducing Tom Jones, Gerry and the Pacemakers and The Beatles on top pop shows he moved from Manchester to the sunny shores of Blackpool in the 70s where he enjoyed a short, stormy engagement to Britain's favourite barmaid Bet Lynch (actress Julie Goodyear)and a longer stint playing to packed houses at the Norbreck Castle.

Two nightclubs, four Rolls Royces, a TV series with Diana Dors and tours with Eartha Kitt, Gene Pitney and Roy Orbison later the future looked very bright for Mr Diamond.

But ill health and two heart scares forced Jack to cut back on public appearances. And ten years ago Jack married Marie of the Roly Polys in what he sweetly says is "the best day's work I have ever done."

Now 25 years on Jack prefers to nurture at the root of up-and-coming talent and Jack Diamond's Discoveries every Monday night at the Royal British Legion offers a great night out showcasing six acts who could just be the next Engelbert Humperdinck or even Robbie Williams. She shows start at 8.30pm with free admission.

Every Wednesday more established names appear for Summertime Cabaret and for just £3 visitors can enjoy three-star acts every week including Bobby Ball's own sons in rock and pop duo Harper, vivacious drag queen Vicky La Plume, Stars In Their Eyes singer Stacey Grant and Brad Lee Scott straight from top billing at The Star in boy band Force Five.
