FIRST Manchester has announced alterations to several of its bus operations in the Bury area.

But the bus operators say that when the changes are introduced, beginning this Sunday, (May 27), they will deliver added stability to the service network.

Service 401 Bolton-Stockport via Bury, Rochdale, Oldham and Ashton is being withdrawn.

The hourly service 400 will operate direct between Ashton and Stockport via the recently completed M60 motorway and will no longer serve Brinnington or Denton.

The 98 Bury-Manchester via Radcliffe and Whitefield bus will have its evening service reduced between Monday and Saturday and will operate hourly.

And the evening service on the 163 Bury-Manchester via Middleton is also to have its evening service reduced to operate hourly.

Another change involves the 471 Rochdale-Bolton via Bury service. In the evenings, a section of the route between Bolton and Bury will be reduced to hourly.

New timetables are now available following the changes. For all local bus inquiries, telephone 228 7811.
