GAME-for-a-laugh BAE Systems worker is ready to pull on his blue suede shoes to raise lots of cash for charity.

Roy Fielding, 41, of Moss Avenue, Ashton, Preston, is planning to revive the memories of Elvis the 'King of Rock 'n' Roll' in a Stars in Their Eyes fund-raising special.

The charity champ aims to dazzle crowds at London Road Labour Club, Preston, with his rendition of the Elvis classic The Wonder of You and hopes to raise loads of cash to help Preston youngster Sam Dowd -- who is severely disabled -- get to Florida to swim with dolphins.

Roy said: "I first dressed up as Elvis a decade ago for a fancy dress competition. It was just for a laugh but I then got roped into doing Elvis for this Stars in Their Eyes contest. But this is my first official competition."

The fund-raising contest has been organised by friends Odette Oliver and Maxine Hull following an appeal in the Citizen for funds to a charity night.

As well as Elvis, the girls have roped in a handful of class acts to impersonate some of the world's greats including Country and Western singers Kenny Rogers and Loretta Lynn as well as Right Said Fred singer Richard Furbrass, Elton John and Bjork.

Maxine, of Powis Road, Ashton, said: "In the past I've raised money for the NSPCC. Although I enjoyed working for the charity never see where the money you have raised has gone."

Raising money for Sam is a cause that is close to the girls' hearts after being friends for 10 years and working with people with disabilities at Guildhall Community Healthcare Trust.

Odette said: "It's going to be a really good night with all the money going to a very deserving good cause."

The event takes place on June 14 at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from the Bridge Inn, Leyland Road, Walton-le-Dale, Preston and cost £4 (adults) and £2(children).
