Thatto Heath Crusaders 35 Hull Dockers 12

THIS match was never going to decide promotion following Heath's success at Milford, which confirmed them as champions of National Conference Two.

But there was still plenty to play for as the Dockers were the only side to have beaten Thatto Heath in the league this season.

The match was a tight encounter in the early stages with the defences finally being breached in the seventh minute when tireless worker Phil Glover raced 50 metres down the wing to score.

Jeff Jacks converted.

Indiscipline by Heath gave Chris Stephenson two shots at goal, which he converted to peg back four points.

Barry Ashall responded with a penalty before Gary Forber powered over for a try, goaled by Ashall.

The Dockers did not help their cause by having two men sent off, the first, Darren Fitzgerald, getting his marching orders for kicking just before the interval.

Within 10 minutes of the restart Dockers closed the gap to a single point through a try by Andy Stephenson.

Substitute Darren Mitchell lifted Heath and his first try broke the Humbersiders' resistance.

He followed it up with a further two tries before prop Geoff Williams rounded off the scoring with a length of the field try.

Dockers were reduced to 11 men before the game ended when Gary Adam saw the red card for butting.

Thatto finished their league programme as they had begun, with a resounding success having dropped only two points all season.

The club would like to thank all sponsors and volunteers who have worked tirelessly this season. A special thanks going to those who recently attended the race day to raise funds.

The end of season Presentation Night will take place at West Park RUFC Red Rocks on Saturday, June 2 at 7.30pm. Music provided by Roisin Dubh.
