THERE are four seats in the Preston and South Ribble area: Preston; South Ribble; the Ribble Valley which includes Longridge, Fulwood and Higher Walton; and the Fylde which includes Broughton, Cottam, Ingol, Tanterton, Lea, Catforth and Woodplumpton.
Each of the main parties has put up a candidate for each area. This week, we contacted them to them to find out more about them, and this is what we discovered...
Hustings heats up
WITH just two weeks to go, the tension among would-be MPs is rising all the time.
This week saw more big guns rolling in to join the battle for the four local seats in our area.
Trade and industry secretary Stephen Byers visited Leyland to meet South Ribble's Labour candidate David Borrow.
While the Conservative environment spokesman Archie Norman joined Tory hopeful Graham O' Hare on a tour of the £26m Avenquest Housing project in Avenham.
And the Lib Dems now infamous battle bus toured the area promoting the party's various candidates.
There were several other political bigwigs out and about meeting voters and spreading election fever.
