IT'S derby day again on Monday as Lancaster host neighbours Morecambe at Lune Road.

Saturday's action sees Lancaster visit Preston, while Morecambe host Leyland.

In this weekend's action, Morecambe recorded a draw against the side who had previously held the top spot in the table, Blackpool.

The game started badly for Morecambe when opener Woodhead went for a duck, but his opening partner, professional Amol Muzumdar hit a quickfire 85 to put his side in a healthy position.

Healthy totals from Clough (39) and Thornton (27) also helped their side along to a healthy total of 206.

Blackpool also started with a duck, Pickles the man who was clean bowled by Stephens, and they failed to pick up the runs they needed to avoid losing top spot in the table.

Lancaster also drew their game at Lune Road against Chorley. It was an all round team performance, with no less than five batsmen making scores in the twenties and thirties, with Hetherington's 32 the highest total.

Chorley's reply saw them restricted to 114 for 7 with professional Gareth Breese taking two of the wickets.

The weekend's results see Morecambe sneak up to fourth in the table, while Lancaster are in eighth place.

Netherfield, the reigning champions, have already taken the lead in the race for this year's title, with a healthy lead.

There is better news for the local clubs in the second division. After victories at the weekend, Lancaster and Morecambe hold first and second places respectively.
