A NEW arrival at Blackpool Zoo is the first Arabian mountain gazelle to be born there in two years.
For the moment the baby and its mother will be kept away from the other gazelles until it has settled in.
Spokesman for the zoo, Tony Williams, said: " Mother and baby are doing very well. The baby is starting to put on weight and settling in fine. We knew the gazelle was pregnant but we weren't sure when the baby was due. We went in to the pen a week ago and there it was!"
The gazelle weighed four to five pounds when it was born and the Zoo keepers have given it a pet name, but it hasn't yet got it's official name.
The baby, pictured with keeper Cliff Thornton, will be on show to visitors next week (May 28).
