LEIGH Infirmary's £700,000 makeover started this week.
Work started to re-vamp wards two and three on Monday. Both wards are expected to be closed for four months. New equipment, machinery and facilities are also expected to be bought.
Director of Nursing Tony Halsall said: "During the refurbishment programme, it is our aim to continue to deliver the best quality of care to all our patients, with no reduction in the range of services available."
A temporary ward will be opened at the Billinge Hospital.
