A DERELICT single-storey warehouse at the junction of Spinning Way and King Street in Leigh is to be transformed into a bar and nightclub under plans agreed by councillors this week.
On Tuesday councillors onm Wigan development control committee ignored planning department advice and approved the scheme which involves the construction of a two storey extension.
Local councillor and Leigh Town Centre Management Group chairman Cllr Brian Jarvis welcomed the scheme to transform the eysore site.
"It's going to brighten the old supermarket site which has long been derelict and it could bring 50 or 60 jobs to the town. It will provide an important boost to a prominent part of the town centre.
