A PASSPORT to opportunity is to be launched next month giving hundreds of youngsters a chance to travel free of charge and to take part in organised activities around the region.
Young people aged 11-18 will be able chose from a variety of planned events throughout the summer as well as receiving the resources and support needed for their journey to the event.
Although all young people are welcome to take part the passport particularly targets those who find themselves isolated, from school, low educational achievement, jobs and other factors.
As part of the North West social and economic programme the scheme is aiming to bring lasting health and social benefits to the people of the region.
Regional co-ordinator Lesley Burn said: "Passport 2002 will give young people a chance to break down barriers and to develop new interests.
The programme will direct them towards opportunities to learn new skills and progress, perhaps to become volunteers or into training programmes."
