A NEWTON-le-Willows man has been prosecuted by St Helens Council for operating and using a motor vehicle for private hire and reward when the vehicle was not licensed.
At St Helens Magistrates Court he was fined £150 for each of the two offences and ordered to pay costs of £285.
Commenting afterwards, chairman of the Licensing and Environmental Protection Committee, Councillor Joe De Asha said: "Such vehicles are required to be tested and licensed to ensure that they are suitable and roadworthy for carrying the public. This conviction is a timely reminder to anyone who might be foolish enough to consider similar action in future".
