MEMBERS of the Rotary Club of Newton-le-Willows have been doing their bit to help a charity which specialises in supplying medical aid to hospitals and equipment for schools overseas.

The Jacob's Well charity was formed by two GPS and is made up entirely of unpaid volunteers.

And their worthy cause has been boosted to the tune of £150 by a donation from Newton Rotary Club members who also collected more than 1,900 items of writing equipment, pens, pencils, paper etc.

Retired teacher, Margaret Ruxton, a representative of Jacob's Well, visited the Rotary club and gave a presentation on the work of the charity. She informed members that the donation would enable them to send all the writing equipment to a school in Afghanistan where schools can function for months with the barest of essentials.
