WITH reference to calls to change Hyndburn's name to Accrington, may I remind those in favour that Accrington is only one of several small towns which make up the borough of Hyndburn -- all of which have non-league football clubs.
It is true that when you are on holiday, strangers you meet have never heard of Hyndburn. That's why I always tell them I'm from Great Harwood, near Blackburn.
If the name must be changed, do like Blackburn with Darwen did and call it "Accrington with Great Harwood, Rishton, Oswaldtwistle, Clayton-le-Moors, Church, Knuzden and Belthorn."
