REGARDING 'Village battle over B and B fails in court' (LET, May 22), I was amazed at this report for three reasons.
Firstly, how could someone be so petty as to complain over such a minor issue which, quite frankly, has nothing to do with him? Does Mr William Hague, who took the issue to the High Court, complain every time a sign-written vehicle is parked near his property? Has he complained about the signs outside the local pubs?
Secondly, and more importantly, who has paid the costs to take this case to court? If it is the taxpayer, then I think Mr Hague ought to pay out of his own pocket for wasting time and money, as the judge told the court that Mr Hague had not complied with court deadlines and had failed to complete the necessary forms despite requests from court staff.
Thirdly, as a resident of Waddington who lives very close to the area in question, I have seen these signs on a car, but very rarely. I know the owner of the B and B in question and on the odd occasion she uses signs to help guests find her; the business is located on a side street which is also a cul-de-sac and so is not easily found.
