POLICE in Burnley are keeping up the pressure on suspected drugs dealers by raiding houses.

A quantity of cannabis was recovered in a raid on a house in Barden Lane. Two people were arrested.

A woman aged 36 was cautioned and a 29-year-old woman was charged with possession of cannabis and possession with into to supply the class B drug.

Insp John Clucas said the arrests were a direct result of information from members of the community passed to the police via Crimestoppers.

The previous Saturday, a warrant was executed at a house in Nairne Street.

A 35-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and unlawful abstraction of electricity.

The arrests were part of the on-going Burnley Residents Against drugs initiative which has seen drugs raids across a wide area of the town.

Insp Clucas warned drugs dealers of "more to come."

He said: "We don't want people using and abusing drugs in Burnley and certainly not dealing in drugs in residential areas.

"I appeal to the people of Burnley to come forward with accurate information on drug dealers so that we can respond accordingly.

"We will work together with the community under the BRAD initiative to keep the pressure on those who chose to deal in drugs and to make life more uncomfortable for them."
