A PEDESTRIAN bridge across the Lancaster canal has been closed down for safety reasons.
But two sets of barriers used to block the bridge, from Troutbeck Road to Shaw Street, have been stolen or damaged in just one week. County council engineers are now examining the problem, with a view to re-opening the bridge in the future. A city council spokesperson said: "We do intend to re-open the bridge at some point, but until we can work out exactly what the problem is we cannot give an exact date."
