BURY Hospice will ensure that the longest day of the year is bright, even if the sun isn't shining.

Once again the Dumers Lane hospice has designated June 21 as "Yellow Day" and is encouraging schools, companies and local people to help its fund-raising drive.

The idea is that as many people as possible wear, eat or do something yellow-related on the day and make a donation to Bury Hospice.

You could put on a yellow themed event or get your colleagues to wear something yellow on the day. Or how about throwing yellow sponges or custard pies at your boss, making yellow food to sell and eat or holding a yellow competition with yellow prizes?

If you do have any ideas or need help planning an event you can contact hospice fund-raising manager Mervyn Reeves on 797 1748.

Donations can also be made to Bury Hospice by visiting your local Halifax branch or other outlets, where yellow ribbons can be collected in exchange for a donation.
