BLACKBURN boss Graeme Souness is weighing up a move for Italian goal-ace Corrado Grabbi.

Ewood chief Souness saw the Ternana striker score in a 3-1 win over Trevisco last Sunday.

And sources in Italy today told me the Rovers boss could be ready to make an offer for the 25-year-old hot-shot in the next few days.

He could face stiff competition from Serie A side Udinese, however, who are also thought to be closing in on the former Juventus hitman.

The Italian club are ready to hijack the deal by offering Under 21 star Massimo Margiotta in part exchange.

Margiotta's agent, Pino Galli, was due to meet with Ternana director Paolo Borea today to discuss a possible swap deal.

But reports in Italy have suggested that Grabbi has already agreed a £1 million a season contract with Rovers.

Grabbi is the current second top scorer in Serie B this season after scoring 20 goals for Ternana.

And his form for the Italian minnows has attracted the attentions of Euro giants like Real Madrid, Barcelona and AC Milan.

However, Souness has excellent contacts in Italy following spells with Sampdoria and Torino.

And he could yet emerge as the favourite to sign him in a deal which could be worth up to £4 million.

Ewood chief executive John Williams said: "Graeme's been abroad scouting for targets and he has been looking at an Italian striker."
