EWOOD chief executive John Williams today admitted the club are considering the possibility of offering discounted tickets at certain matches next season.

Last season the club came in for criticism from some season-ticket holders after offering fans the chance to watch certain games for just £5.

But Rovers have reserved the right to do the same again next season if they feel a particular game demands it, although Williams insists such a strategy would only be used 'sparingly'.

"The issue of discounted season matchday prices remains an emotive issue for some which can polarise opinion between season ticket holders," said Williams.

"But we think it's a balance.

"Last season the tactic to fill the ground was used twice and we are reserving the right to use discounts again.

"But, if we do use them, then it will be sparingly.

"We don't see that many applications for them in the Premiership but there may be some.

"So we do reserve the right to do that and it's only right that we point that out because we want an honest relationship with our fans.

"It's no good us pointing out the saving of a season ticket on the one hand and not pointing out the possibility in certain games that we'll be doing that.

"But, if we do do that, then in the main it will be geared towards schools and children and child-like offers.

"So, if someone was to ask will there be a game next year where it might be £5 or £10, then I'd have to say I think there may be."

Matchday prices at Rovers will rise from £17 to £20 for adults wishing to sit in either the Blackburn End or the Darwen End.

And there will be similar price rises in other areas of the ground.

But, when compared to the rest of the Premiership, the cost of watching Rovers is around the average for the league.
