BOURNEMOUTH boss Sean O'Driscoll is said to be bracing himself for a renewed bid from the Clarets for defender Eddie Howe.

Burnley boss Stan Ternent made an offer, thought to be £600,000, for the Cherries star in March but this was turned down.

But Bournemouth are expecting Burnley to be back chasing the 23-year-old who used to partner Clarets defender Ian Cox at Dean Court.

Howe had an impressive end to the season and O'Driscoll may cash in as he looks to add a number of new faces to his Second Division squad.

A full-back and midfielder are said to be top of Ternent's shopping list while hopes for a striker could soon be sorted out with the permanent signing of loan star Gareth Taylor from Manchester City.

With the Clarets boss just back from holiday, this deal could be sorted out this week.

Meanwhile, one-time Clarets target, Coventry front-man John Aloisi, is ready to make an impression with the relegated Sky Blues next season.

The 26-year-old Aussie was said to be interesting Ternent earlier in the season after injuries and international commitments meant he wasn't a regular feature in the Premiership for Coventry.

But Aloisi wants to partner John Hartson next season -- and has proven experience at First Division level. Aloisi scored 28 goals in 62 starts at Portsmouth prior to his £650,000 move to Highfield Road in 1998.

"Last season was a disappointment for myself and the team," said the Australian.

"But now I am looking forward to next season and showing what I can do.

"I know I can score a lot of goals in the First Division and, hopefully, get Coventry back up. You don't get much time on the ball in the First Division. There isn't all that much football played so it is a lot different to the Premiership.

"But I am sure we have got a good enough team to cope with that."

And Bury midfielder Nick Daws, who Ternent had under him when he was in charge at Gigg Lane and who he had tried to bring to Turf Moor on loan at one time, is a target for newly promoted Rotherham.

Daws' contract runs out on June 30 -- although he has an extra 12 month option -- and Millers assistant boss John Breckin says he has been running the rule over the 31-year-old, who they enquired about on transfer-deadline day but were told the asking price was £175,000.

"We need about three players who have experience of playing in the First Division and the two from Bury -- Daws and defender Chris Swailes -- fit the bill."

"We have achieved something similar to what Bury did coming up through two divisions and it is going to be very hard to stay in this division. That is why we need some new faces."
