BLACKBURN boss Graeme Souness today admitted Eyal Berkovic's hopes of a move to Rovers are fading fast as he looks to build a squad capable of cutting it in the Premiership.

Ewood chief Souness has admitted he wants to bring in four new players this summer to beef up his promotion-winning squad.

But, if he can get in the players he wants, then Berkovic would appear to be surplus to requirements with Souness committed to a change in formation next season.

"We've got priority areas right now and those priority areas don't include the position Eyal plays in," said Souness.

"I want to go 4-4-2 next season, because I feel that's the best way to play in the Premier League.

"So I'm looking to strengthen in other areas before I think of bringing Eyal in.

"If we were to get rid of the players we are looking to move on in the summer then that might free up some spare cash to bring Eyal in.

"But, at the moment, he would be something of a luxury signing for us because we have other areas we need to strengthen first."

Berkovic's future at Ewood has been the subject of intense speculation ever since his loan spell with Rovers came to and end last month.

But the fact that Celtic are looking for a fee in the region of £3 million appears to have priced the player out of a move to Blackburn.

Now Fulham could step in with a bid for the player as they look to beef up their own squad after romping to the First Division title.

But the little Israeli is reported to have rejected a £3 million move to Galatasaray after the Turks were said to have agreed a fee with Celtic for the 29-year-old playmaker.
