THE public will be involved in a 15-month study of the M60 corridor through North Manchester, one of the busiest motorway stretches in the country.

The focus of the study will be junction 12 at Worsley and junction 18 at Simister, which carries 190,000 vehicles a day and is often the source of serious delays for motorists and environmental problems for residents.

Extensive dialogue with the public will be held by consultancy firm Oscar Faber who have been commissioned to undertake the survey.

It will investigate the existing and future travel plans and measures to relieve the problems without the need for major road building.

A website is being set up to inform the public of the study's progress and its findings.
