ENTERPRISING Saints' have increased the strength of the board to eight with the co-opting of two self-made millionaire directors.

They are 45-year-old financial expert Eamonn McManus and James Hartley, aged 49, an antiques dealer who originates from Wigan.

A native of Haydock and a former pupil of West Park Grammar School, Mr McManus has considerable banking knowledge and worked in Hong Kong.

Married with two children, Eamonn has been a Saints supporter since boyhood and now lives in Cheshire.

Mr. Hartley has also been a lifelong Rugby League supporter and has considerable experience in youth development. He is manager of the Great Britain Academy squad to tour Australia and New Zealand later this year, and chairman of the governing body. He is also an uncle of Saints' Academy player John Robinson.

Saints' chairman Howard Morris said: "Eamonn and James will bring further experience and expertise to the board at an important time in club history with the proposed move to a new stadium."

BUOYED by Saturday's magnificent victory over leaders Bradford Bulls, Saints will be looking to continue their charge towards a Super League hat-trick when they entertain London Broncos at Knowsley Road on Friday. (8pm). Both sides have injury worries with doubts over Dwayne West, John Stankevitch and Vila Matautia added to Saints' long-term absentees Tommy Martyn, Sean Long and Wayne McDonald.

London sorely missed their influential Kiwi skipper Richie Barnett and their inspirational Aussie hooker Jason Hetherington during last Friday's defeat against Leeds at Headingley.

Barnett, a pre-match warm-up casualty, comes back into the reckoning for the visit north of a Broncos side with a few scores to settle. They were left sore after two late Keiron Cunningham tries stole the spoils in the corresponding fixture at the Valley in March.

Presently lying sixth in Super League Broncos are hungry for points to keep them in contention for a play-off spot. They will select from: Barnett; Peters, Martin, Tollett, Golden; Dymock, Moran; Mestrov, Millard, Dooley, Retchless, Toshack, Johnson. Substitutes Roy, Gillett, Lupton, Air.

Saints are buzzing at the moment, and on Saturday's showing seem to have adjusted effortlessly to the enforced absence of half-backs Tommy Martyn and Sean Long.

Versatile duo Paul Sculthorpe and Paul Wellens gave masterful performances against the much touted Paul brothers last Saturday, and will again be key players come Friday should they safely come through the Roses battle, which was being waged as the Star went to press.

They were joined by colleagues Chris Joynt, Keiron Cunningham and rising forward star Tim Jonkers, who was rewarded for recent outstanding performances with a late call-up.

Paul Sculthorpe was chosen player-of-the-month for April when Saints held a presentation night at the Nalgo club. David Fairleigh was the choice for February and March.
