THE British Meat Information Service has provided a recipe for Piri Piri steak which will provide you with a sizzling summer meal.
PIRI PIRI STEAK
Ingredients:
Lean beef sirloin steaks
Olive oil
Chilli sauce
Fresh thyme
Lemon
In a shallow dish mix together 30ml (2tbsp) olive oil, 30ml chilli sauce and two sprigs fresh thyme.
Dip two lean beef sirloin steaks into the mixture and ensure they are coated on both sides. Place the steaks under a pre-heated grill or barbecue and cook according to the chart below.
Brush steaks with remaining chilli oil occasionally.
To serve, squeeze over juice from half a lemon and serve with sauteed baby potatoes and a guacamole salad (avocado, tomato, chilli and red onion).Grilling times each side for Rump/sirloin -- 2cm ( in) thick: Rare 2 mins; Medium 4 mins; Well Done 6 mins
