ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman may resurrect his bid to land Phil Eastwood after the former Burnley striker today hinted he may consider a move to the Crown Ground.

As we exclusively revealed yesterday, Stanley have already had an enquiry for the 23-year-old knocked back by Conference club Morecambe.

But Reds boss Coleman could now be tempted to come in with a new, improved offer after the player indicated he could be interested in a switch to Stanley if it means regular first team football.

"I'm pleased that someone has shown an interest in me, but whether I'd want to step down a league or not, I don't really know," said Eastwood.

"I know Stanley are ambitious and the fact that they're local is an added attraction.

"So, if I did decide I had to drop down, then they'd be the type of club I'd be looking at.

"Their ground is looking good these days, they're obviously looking to spend money on bringing players in, and I think they've got a great chance of going up next season.

"But I don't what I'm doing yet next season and no-one from Morecambe has been back in touch with me since I turned down their contract offer at the end of the season.

"So it's just a case of waiting to see what happens."

Eastwood's existing contract with the Shrimps has now expired and he's rejected a new deal.

That was because he spent much of last season on the bench, despite scoring 14 goals in 25 games.

But, under the terms of the Bosman Ruling, Morecambe are still allowed to retain his registration and demand a fee because he's under 24.

So, unless a club can meet the Shrimps valuation, then Eastwood could be left in no man's land come the start of the season.

"The reason I turned down a new deal wasn't about money, it was more the fact I wasn't playing regularly when I thought I should have been," said Eastwood

"My goal-per-game ratio has been better than one in two but, for whatever reason, I still can't get a regular game.

"At the end of the day, I just want to play regular first team football. But it's not up to me to pick the team, that's the manager's job."

Apart from Stanley, a host of other clubs are also believed to be tracking the Blackburn-born van driver.

And he even had a recent trial with a Swedish First Division club, although he has since decided to knock that idea on the head.

"It was all through a lad I knew but when I got out there, it wasn't all it was cracked up to be," said Eastwood. "Speaking to the players over there, the money wasn't that great.

"And to move over there, I'd have to be earning decent money to make it worth while, considering I'd have to give up my job."

Meanwhile, Reds chief Coleman is hoping for more concrete news in his quest to beef up his defensive resources.

The Crown Ground boss is currently talking to two targets about the possibility of joining Stanley next season. And he is confident he will be able to land at least one of them as he prepares to launch a push for the Conference.

"I've spoken to two players this week and I'm just waiting for them to come back to me now."

Coleman had fancied a move for former Darwen centre back Neil Durkin last season but he signed a new contract with Conference side Leigh RMI quelling speculation surrounding his future.

Elsewhere, former Stanley target Niell Hardy is on the verge of signing for Stockport County in a five figure deal.

Coleman tried to land the former Altrincham frontman last summer only to see the player opt for a move to Radcliffe Borough instead.

But, now the UniBond First Division club are said to have agreed to sell him to County -- shattering the club record £15,000 fee they received from Stanley for Paul Mullin last season.
