PRESCOT & Odyssey managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory at Ainsdale on Saturday, despite a magnificent feat by Ian Hayhurst.
The experienced opening bowler took an incredible four wickets in four balls in his fifth over, eventually finishing with 5-35, as Ainsdale were bowled out for just 124.
Once again though, P&O were let down by their fielding as a couple of chances went begging, including one off Fitzsimmons who went on to score 50 after being dropped on one.
Cartmel (2-40) and Wilkinson, Dagnall and McComb with one apiece were the other successful bowlers.
In reply, P&O were confident of reaching what was a very modest score, but, as in previous weeks, lack of concentration and application led to disaster.
Only Andy Greenwood, batting at number three, and hard-hitting skipper Oughterson gave any real hope as Ainsdale's Kiwi pros did the damage.
Greenwood was the last man out for 41 as P&O slumped to 99 all out, although the day will be remembered for Hayhurst's amazing feat.
