A BIRTHMARK proved the undoing of two brothers who tried to convince police they were each other.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Matthew Perkin, 18, was driving while disqualified because his brother Christopher, 25, had drunk too much to get behind the wheel.
They gave each other's details when stopped but the police national computer gave details of a birthmark on Matthew's leg and they were both arrested.
Matthew, of Derby Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance and obstructing a police officer.
Christopher, of South Grove Avenue, Sharples, pleaded guilty to obstructing a police officer and aiding and abetting the use of an uninsured car. Both were bailed until July 4 for reports.
