ANDY Burnham became Leigh's fifth Labour MP with a landslide victory.
The 31-year-old former Government adviser to Chris Smith, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport pulled 22,783 votes.
Conservative Andrew Oxley was runner-up with 6,421, Liberal Democrat Ray Atkins next with 4,524 and trailing were Billy Kelly (Socialist Labour Party) 820 and Chris Best (UKIP) 750.
Percentage turnout 49.9%, 35,432.
