PUPILS at Fishpool Primary School went barking mad when school meals mascot Dexter the Dog paid them a visit.
Children at the Parkhills Road school gave the furry figure a rousing reception after they took part in a healthy eating art and craft contest.
Youngsters who created the best mosaics and paintings on the subject were rewarded with pots of yoghurt, grapes, books and pens, presented by Dexter himself.
Teacher Elizabeth Banks said: "The children were in uproar when he came into the the hall and really enjoyed everything about it.
"It brought home the importance of healthy eating and made a real impression on the entire school."
