THERE are not many teams which win at Highbury, home of the mighty Gunners but a five-a-side team from Leyland have won a trophy at the famous ground.

A team put together by Bill Fairman, from accountancy company WFJ Fairman and Co, based in Farington, won the annual Children Society's corporate Five-a-Side football competition held at Highbury on Sunday after travelling down to London the night before.

The squad which was made up of players from the South Ribble area did Lancashire proud by winning the tournament and raising £400 for charity at the same time.

They progressed to the final without conceding a single goal thanks in no small part to the efforts of Andy Fairman, the ex-Blackburn Rovers schoolboys keeper.

He was able to show off his talents which are always so evident at the Super Soccer Coaching sessions that he runs.

He was assisted by Gareth Caunce, Tom Feather, Chris Blundell, Steve Yardley and Rob Thomas.

The players are looking forward to defending the cup next year.
