THE long-awaited Co-op superstore opens in Great Harwood on June 30 after four years of uncertainty.
Concerns over the project led councillors to hold a referendum in Great Harwood, allowing all locals to have their say.
In the meantime, Safeway pulled out of the project, opening the door for the Co-op to come in.
But Sean Toal, general manager of Co-op's Large Stores Group, said he felt the new store could win people round, promising the best 75 staff he could find to man the store.
Local people will also be offered free home delivery on purchases totalling over £15.
He said: "The new store has attracted excellent staff who previously had been travelling some distance to work for other major retailers.
"We have created 75 jobs and are drafting in staff from other stores so we are up to full speed from day one."
Developer Dransfield Properties has built a new library on the Queen Street site to replace the one knocked down to make way for the new store.
