BLACKBURN-based Precision Polymer Engineering has invested more than £200,000 in new equipment, as part of its drive to keep at the forefront of innovation.

The Clarendon Road company specialises in the design and production of seals for a wide range of industries.

General manager Peter Cloney, said the investment in machine tooling equipment would cut seal production times by as much as 25 per cent and increase the company's competitive edge.

The new machining and turning centres would also increase PPE's ability to produce micro seal components down to 0.4mm in diameter for the aerospace and medical sectors.

"Time pressures to meet delivery deadlines are increasing all the time," he said. "The new machines will shorten production times and add a new dimension to our customer service, allowing us to work more closely with engineers to produce effective sealing solutions."

PPE is competing in global markets with clients throughout Europe and the USA. Its seals are particularly successful in California's 'Silicon Valley' where they are used in semiconductor production.
