LORD Smith of Leigh this week joined a north west delegation to seek European support for areas devastated by foot and mouth.
Lord Smith, leader of the NW Regional Assembly, welcomed the invitation arranged by Leigh's MEP, Terry Wynn, who accompanied the group, including assembly council leaders from Cumbria. They met Euro leaders in Brussels to heighten the awareness of the needs of areas affected.
Lord Smith said: "More support and resources are needed. We welcome the opportunity to meet with the European Commission to secure their involvement and support."
