THE birthday cake was on us.
Loyal readers flocked to Railway Road to celebrate the Journal's first birthday.
We gave away limited-edition alarm clocks to every Journal reader who bought a copy of their favourite weekly read.
Leigh Centurion Liam Bretherton was also at hand to talk to readers, sign autographs - and hand out portions of our delicious first birthday cake.
The sun even came out as Journal-land residents joined us for a celebratory glass of wine and a sandwich outside the offices to mark our big day.
News editor Brian Gomm said: "The day was a huge success and everyone here at the Journal is looking forward to informing all our loyal readers across Leigh, Atherton and Tyldesley of the biggest and best stories, entertainment news and sports results for many more years to come.
"I would like to thank everyone who came and joined in with the fun and hope you continue to enjoy the Journal."
See you again in 51 Journals time - and don't forget your favourite weekly read, available from newsagents each and every week for just 20p.
Or if you simply can't wait that long, get your hands on a copy of the Journal's free Midweek edition.
