THE Centurions came back from their weekend off to be greeted with their toughest training session of the season.

"We really put them through it on Monday," admitted coach Paul Terzis. "But it's done the trick because it underlined to the players that one big, final effort is now needed to make the season complete.

"This is the start of a seven-game programme which will end with the Grand Final in July. It's simple: four games in the league, three in the play-offs and we've won the treble.

"That's our goal, seven more wins."

But Terzis knows that Leigh will have to be at their best for Sunday's visit to Workington, a side battling for a top eight finish.

An indication of just how seriously Leigh are treating this game is that the squad will be travelling up to Cumbria on Saturday to prepare for the Derwent Park game.

"It's worked for us before. It gives the players time to focus on the job in hand without any distractions," says Terzis.

Leigh will be able to select from a near full-strength squad for Sunday's game.

Prop Dave Whittle will be available despite his sending off in last week's Trans-Pennine Final. Whittle's case will not be heard by the disciplinary panel until next Tuesday when he's likely to make a personal appearance to answer allegations that he put an elbow into an opponents face.

"Dave has never been sent off before in his years as a professional, so that should stand him in good stead," says Terzis. "We're pretty confident."

Leigh have still not ruled out bringing in a couple of new faces before the June 15 signing deadline.

They are being linked with Warrington back rower Paul Noone and Wigan's reserve grade centre Andrew Isherwood.

"The problem is that they are contracted to their existing clubs. Until that changes there is little we can do," Terzis admits.
