YOUNG mum and business woman Rachel Ashworth has tasted success with her company Worth the Earth and this week she celebrated its first anniversary by sharing a special birthday cake with her friends and colleagues.
Rachel was expecting her first child, Thea, when she was made redundant from her job as a textile product manager in Manchester two years ago.
So the enterprising mum decided to go it alone to give herself flexibility to spend time with her daughter.
She set up her own business in the Clayton Street industrial units, in Nelson, with the help of Pendle Council's Every Opportunity scheme.
The name Worth the Earth is a combination of Rachel's last name and daughter's Thea.
Rachel makes accessories, such as curtains and cushions, and sells them on a website set up by one of her friends.
