BLACKBURN band The Burn are set to release their first material on a compilation album, alongside the likes of The Verve, Smashing Pumpkins and Embrace, Pulse can exclusively reveal.

The Burn, who are Mick Spencer, Danny Davidson, Graeme Rogerson, Jason Place and Lee Walsh, signed to Hut records late last year and the label is currently celebrating 10 years in the business.

To mark the anniversary, Hut is to release a special limited edition collection on July 2. Hut have a proven record for developing bands. Alongside the big names, their three newest recruits -- The Burn, The Music and Crackout -- will include demo versions of their material. The track from the local lads is called Facing The Music. Recorded at Liverpool's Parr Studios earlier this year, it is described as a work in progress.

A delighted Mick Spencer said: "It's unbelievable. It's a real privilege for us to included and to appear alongside such top bands."

Having just finished a successful UK support tour with Cast, the lads are riding the crest of a wave.

Singer/guitarist Danny Davidson said the time on the road had gone better than than they could have hoped.

He said: "It was an amazing experience. The crowds were up for it every night and Cast were brilliant. The best crowd was obviously in Blackburn but the show at Warrington was something else."

The band have now returned to the studio to record more demos, with their first release scheduled for later in the year.
