A DEVELOPER's plans to use a derelict quarry in Cloughfold for recreational uses are set to be refused by planners.
Members of the engineering and planning sub-committee meeting on Tuesday are being advised to refuse a change of use application by local development company B & E Boys, based in Waterfoot.
The application is to use Hurdle's Quarry, off Bacup Road, for various leisure uses including rock climbing, mountain biking, motorsports and clay pigeon shooting. Other activities include archery, paint-balling and target shooting.
The officers are advising refusal because the application gives insufficient information to enable the full implications of the proposal to be properly considered.
In addition the access, off Lench Road, is considered inadequate and the formation of a new proposed access road would harm the visual amenity and the use of the site for motorsports and target shooting would have a potentially adverse impact on the amenities of neighbours.
